Map the existing system
Document applications, data sources, integrations and critical tasks. Interview users to distinguish workflow bottlenecks from technical limitations. Prioritize components that cause disruption or are difficult to maintain.
Choose a manageable scope
A new API, a focused user interface or a data synchronization flow can be a useful first step. Decide whether to retain, refactor or replace each component based on requirements and maintenance costs, rather than assuming a complete rewrite.
Plan migration and rollback
Test data reconciliation, authentication and connected-system behavior. Define the cutover window, stop criteria and recovery plan. Hand over operating documentation with source code and deployment configuration.
